java jamboree: what else we do

what else we do

coffee is cool, but surely we have other interests too, right?

java staff are musical and so are most cochranites! we hold an open mic night on the 2nd and 4th monday of every month from 7-9 pm, hosted by the wonderful lord jungalee and lucas chaisson. almost anything goes. open to all ages and free.

cupping is coffee talk for a coffee tasting. we hold these randomly for ourselves and anyone who wants to join us. please do! ask us anytime and we'll be happy to set up an impromptu tasting.

java walls are set up with gallery style picture hanging wires and jess spent months trying to pick paint colours, so we might as well get creative! we use our wall space to showcase the beautiful works of local artists.

we provide all picture hanging wires and do not charge the artist - all we ask is that your work is nicely framed and/or presented and has the appropriate fixtures on the back so that it can be safely hung.

displays are usually rotated every 5 weeks and arrangements can be made for pieces to be for sale if the artist wishes. come in and have a chat to jess if you are interested in displaying your work on our walls.

once a month the chinook film group brings in a film from the independent film circuit and screens it at the cochrane movie house - tickets are $10 and on sale at java. the film is followed by a gathering at java with free tea and drip coffee. ask us what's playing next.
