we take pride in serving drinks prepared with what we think are some of the best beans in the world. we are always open to new developments in the specialty coffee industry and promise not to stick with something old just because we are used to it. currently, we buy our beans directly from two north american boutique roasters with some of the best reputations anywhere in the world - 49th parallel roasters in vancouver, and ritual roasters in san francisco.






we pull shots with 49th parallel's epic espresso - a blend of three beans from brazil, el salvador and ethiopia. we have recently begun to order ritual's sweet tooth espresso - a single origin espresso that changes monthly and is dedicated to showcasing the growers who produced the exceptional beans that end up in your cup. ask your barista which sweet tooth espresso we have when you visit us, and we will be happy to pull you a shot. february's sweet tooth is from brasil. come and try some!






our drip coffee is made exclusively with 49th parallel beans that vary seasonally. each week on thursday we receive our shipment of freshly roasted beans straight from the roaster in vancouver. ask your barista which beans they have brewing when you stop in.






coffee is our favourite drink, but we also see the value in drinking tea and sweet slushy things that are good for the soul. we have a wide range of numi herbal teas, as well loose leaf teas from the banff tea co. and hot apple cider from the calgary farmers market. we also spend hours sitting around dreaming up seasonal drinks with funny names, which you can find scribbled on our chalkboard wall.

we love food!


our now famous baker emily is at java every morning bright and early cooking delicious things from scratch with quality ingredients she believes in. cochrane locals will probably recognise emily's cinnamon buns from warren harbeck's column in the cochrane eagle newspaper- find them fresh out of the oven every day by about 10am.


emily also bakes frittata, quiche with homemade crust, lemon tarts and a variety of other goodies.
